GAMBIAN GOVERNMENT REVOKES FORMER PRESIDENT YAHYA JAMMEH’S DİPLOMATIC PASSPORT

The Gambian government had cancelled diplomatic passports for former president Yahya Jammeh and his family members.

News outlet AP reports that the president is among 207 people who had their diplomatic passports revoked with immediate effect.

Others included in the revocation are Jammeh’s wife and her two children, as well as other close relatives.

The move comes almost a week after media reports about the presence of former first lady Zainab Jammeh in the capital of neighboring Senegal.

Zainab’s sighting in Senegal prompted mass calls for the revocation of diplomatic passports issued under Yahya jammeh’s lengthy reign.

Jammeh and his family fled to exile in Equatorial Guinea in January, paving the way for elected President Adama Barrow to take office.

He had initially refused to step down following his election defeat.
